    Hello everybody!

I have a question regarding MK´s right hand; particulary the fast licks; is it Index finger down , Index finger up, thumb or always thumb / index? or a mix?

When watching you Ingo, it seems like you are playing a lot of the fast licks like Index down, index up, thumb or am I wrong?

    Take care

    Carl

Sometimes this way, sometimes that way, or both thumb and index finger… but you are right, I use to pick some note index finger down

Hello from Ukraine! First of all I'd like to say that this is an awesome blog and I found a lot of interesting stuff here for myself. Always wondered if there was any decent site dedicated to Mark Knopfler's guitar style. Now I found it :)

Regarding Mark's right hand (to me it's left since I'm left-handed:)). I was surfing your blog and it seems there's no articles about his right hand technique. Nothing about his weird hand position, his unorthodox tricky fingerpicking and his rhythm approach. Since you obviously sold your soul at the crossroad subtly comprehending Knopfler's style it would be awesome if you could come up with an article about foresaid stuff :) All the more a great deal of his style comes exactly out of his right hand.

You are right, it is the right hand that matters. There is so much to say about it, you can fill a whole book with it I guess.

I agree that the whole book can be written. I'm talking about basic stuff so people could know which direction to dig in their guitar practice. E.g. thorough overlook of let's say "Sultans of Swing" or "Money for Nothing" and explaining basic principles of Mark's hand position, fingerpicking (patterns) and clawhammer style :) It would mean an awful lot.
P.S. Either way this is a great blog! I think I'm gonna stay here for a while :)
