On some pics from the recent thread “Rare MK pics” on the AMIT forum, I saw a strange litte cable on Mark’s guitar strap, and I don’t know what it is :

a talk back mic ? to talk to technician ? or something for ground wiring ?

does anyone know what it is ?

Which picture exactly?

I guess you mean the antenna cable of the Nady guitar transmitter. It was taped to the Music Man strap, during the second half of 1979

ah ok I didn’t realize that his guitar was HF transmitted in 79, I thought he did this only from 82-83

Mark used a wireless transmitter on all Dire Straits gigs from September 1979 to 1992. Live Aid was an exception, probably technical problems there, maybe a few more with similar problems (?)

thanks for the info, I must admit I didn’t pay attention to this before.

looking again to the pics I noticed that the strap was also used to tape a pick : another way to get the pick quickly, different from behind the pickguard like here :
