Stratocasters from the early 60ies - like the two red Strats that Mark Knopfler played with Dire Straits in the 70ies - came with an aluminium shielding plate on the bottom side of the pickguard. Many custom shop guitars, and the Mark Knopfler artist series Strat, also come with these shielding plates.
This is a reproduction of the original shielding plate, with the correct thickness and from the correct material.
It will fit on vintage-style pickguards (50ies, '62 & '64 hole layout). No wiring or soldering required.
Does not only improve shielding against electric fields to suppress hum but also CHANGES THE TONE OF YOUR PICKUPS slightly. Any ST-style guitar will come closer to the original sound with such a shielding plate! The effect on the sound depends on the thickness of the shielding and is for this reason stronger than with a thin self-adhesive aluminim foil.
